WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8TH, 2019!  PMI 50-YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND PMI CALUMET FUNDRAISER!  

Celebrate PMI 50-year anniversary and holidays with PMI Calumet fundraiser!  This year’s event  proceeds will be donated to CHARITY as pledged within PMI’s “Global Celebration of Service”.  Plus, we’ll have a great speaker, great conversation, giveaways, lots of networking, hors d’oeuvres, and a traditional sit-down dinner, all in the lovely setting of Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant in Merrillville, IN.  So, come celebrate our PMI 50th anniversary with the Calumet Chapter as we focus special attention on the professionals—PMI members, credential holders, volunteers and all those who consider project, program and portfolio management their profession—for their great accomplishments in not just delivering successful outcomes, but in making a difference.   
 
At this annual meeting, PMI Calumet Chapter will cover annual chapter business and will be updating the membership on PMI’s strategic transformation and show a short video describing PMI then – now – and into the future.
 
We will also have a speaker so you will be able to earn 2 PDU's (early Christmas present)!

Nabila Safdar will be providing an interactive and engaging session focused on involving everyone in the audience through a series of activities exploring ways to reveal and address barriers to agility.  Throughout the session, Nabila will provide opportunities for individuals to win prizes and share their stories.  The audience will also receive a takeaway sheet which will include sections for notes, action items and accountability for follow up within your organization.  As part of the session, Nabila will offer a free session for helping your companies in facilitating a similar session.  Major areas covered will be:

Nabila (na.bee.la) Sattar Safdar enabled business agility in biotech, software, retail, non-profit, co-op, technology and academic spanning over 15 years.  Driven by the passion for continuous learning, Nabila is always exploring new ways to better serve teams.  Her primary focus is strengthening relationships to deliver value.

Nabila is serving as Project Manager and Scrum Master at Do it Best Corp., Professor at Purdue University teaching Project Management, Technology Strategy & Management, and Design Project to Computer Science and Information Systems / Technology students.  Nabila is also the President of Nabilities, a consulting firm, focused on adding value to others using training, mentoring and coaching on agility & change leadership.  On the philanthropic side, Nabila is a Board Member at the American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana and the Committee Chair for its Inclusion and Diversity committee.

* Mark your calendars for our next PMI Calumet Chapter event at the Griffith Central Market on Friday August 23rd.  This is a social event for members and their guests so please bring your family or friends to join us.  The Griffith Central Market offers live entertainment, a wide variety of local beverages in the beer garden, local food trucks, artisan vendors, a new playground and walking track for a stroll through the park.  Live music from Michelle Velez and Latin Satin Soul.  More details to follow.

Dear PMI Calumet Chapter Members:
 
We invite you to join us for our 1Q 2019 Chapter Meeting on Wednesday, March 20th from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM CST. This will be a virtual meeting on Skype so please plan to join us from wherever you are.
 
The topic for the evening will be “The Project Manager as Coach”presented by Mr Henry Will. Henry Will is an innovator with 10 Patents. He has been a PMI speaker before and his presentations are highly rated and engaging. He recently managed teams delivering Artificial Intelligence (AI) services, cloud infrastructure, cloud databases, security, and networks. He trained AI in a hackathon. Henry created an IoT device which he presented at an IBM conference.

He was certified as a coach in IBM. He has worked in industries including video games, medical instrumentation, military avionics, finance, manufacturing, internet voting, mortgage, transportation, communications, insurance, and publishing.
