President's Message

Jay Thomas - PMI Calumet Chapter President

Jay Thomas, PMP, DASM
President

It is truly a privilege to be involved with the Project Management Institute!  Having the opportunity to lead the PMI Calumet Chapter and help insure its continued growth, is certainly something that I take seriously.  While already having served on the Board of Directors as Secretary, Vice President of Finance, and also as President-Elect, I now look forward to working with the Board in a different capacity.  Continued partnership and engagement with our membership, communities, and various other internal and external stakeholders, is key in realizing ongoing improvement and development of our chapter, and is just one of several objectives that I am looking to achieve in the next term.

Our Most Important Assets are all of you……our members.  I believe it is absolutely imperative that we focus on growing the level of engagement, sharing of information, networking opportunities, community involvement, and sense of belonging within our chapter.  My goal is to work closely with our Volunteerism and Community Outreach teams to provide our members with the opportunity to participate in events that are designed to help give back to the community in a variety of ways, while also giving members the chance to learn new skills and earn PDU’s in the process.  I am also committed to working with our Professional Development team along with our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team to make sure we maintain a culture where everyone’s voice and input is valued and options for Professional Training and Development are consistently made available to our members.

Giving Back to the project management profession not only reinforces one's skills, knowledge and wisdom, but it also reminds us about this profession and why we chose it.  Giving Back allows us to share our passion and enthusiasm in a way that will educate and inspire others to become part of this highly effective, exciting, and impactful profession.   Please take a moment to consider how "Giving Back" to the profession by being active and volunteering with PMI Calumet Chapter can meet your personal and professional goals.  Remember, most companies actually pay you to volunteer in the community and with non-profit organizations like ours.  So please take a look today at our Volunteer Opportunities under the “Get Involved” page on our website to see which opportunities will work best for you.

Also Members, I’m still giving away PDUs! – just reach out to me and find out how easy it is to Give Back to the community and this awesome chapter.  Looking forward to hearing from you in the near future at a PMI Calumet event.

Sincerely,

Jay Thomas, PMP, DASM
